Chapman catalog year
Although Chapman is affiliated with the Christian Church, students of all faiths are represented, and they are supported by a number of religious organizations on campus, such as Hillel and the Muslim Student Association. A high percentage of our graduates have published books and other writing and have gone on to tenure track teaching jobs; or they have entered the workforce as writers, editors, arts administrators, teachers and activists for nonprofits, not only in the United States but around the world. We offer creative writing workshops in fiction, poetry, screenwriting, and creative nonfiction. The Department of English also routinely supports recent graduates with part-time teaching opportunities. Will it help you be a better writer? Our practice-based journalism courses focus on reporting and writing, new media, and editing. Courses in the elected programs may be drawn from a wide range of writing workshops, small seminars in theory and form, and courses in literature and allied disciplines. You can go on to other things if you like, or move in to an MFA. One of the advantages of a small private university is the effort made by faculty to assist undergraduates and graduate students in constructing individualized, but coherent and integrated, programs of study.
